Admissions
What are the entry requirements for the ASMHI MSc?
A bachelor’s degree with 2:1 honours in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Natural Sciences, Electronic Engineering, Psychology or a Related Field. If you are an overseas student or studied abroad, please see the Equivalent International qualifications that we accept here.
Should I still apply if I don’t meet the entry requirements?
Yes. If you have a lower degree classification, or a degree in an unrelated subject, your application may be considered if you can demonstrate significant relevant work experience, or offer a related graduate qualification (such as a Masters, PGDip or PhD). Do I need a background in statistics or programming to apply?
No. Full training in statistics and programming (in R, python and stata) will be provided, though any prior experience in statistics and programming would provide a good foundation to your studies.
What documents do I need to include in my application?
We require a short personal statement (3 questions), previous academic studies, references and you may wish to include a CV or evidence of registration to professional bodies.

When is the application deadline and how long does the process take?
For September 2026/2027 entry the final application deadlines are 24th July 2026 for overseas students and the deadline for home students is 24th August 2026.

The ASMHI MSc is an excellent “jumping-off point” for further academic studies and many of our former students go on to become PhD researchers (see graduate destinations)

How does the MSc prepare me for a career in health data science?
The MSc develops technical expertise and professional readiness. Graduates leave ready for roles in biostatistics, data science, clinical research, and digital health.

King’s offers pre-sessional academic English courses for students who want to strengthen their communication skills before starting the MSc

Modules & Teaching
What are the core and optional modules on the ASMHI MSc?
The two core modules are statistical modelling for health data and health informatics and predictive analytics; then you choose four exciting optional modules and complete a research (dissertation) project.
How is the course assessed?
The primary assessment methods for this course are written examinations, coursework, an e-portfolio of competencies and skills and a research project assessed through a poster presentation and dissertation.
Can I work on real-world data or collaborative research projects during the MSc?
You will have many opportunities during the MSc to work with real-world data; for the research project you will approach a supervisor in your area of interest and work together on solving a genuine health data challenge.
How much contact time and independent study is expected each week?
As per the academic standard, you will be expected to work for 10 hours per 1 credit; therefore a 15 credit module will require 150 hours. This includes contact time and self directed study, and multiple modules may run concurrently depending on optional modules taken.

UK students
Full time: £18,150 per year (MSc, 2026/27); £12,100 per year (PG Dip, 2026/27); £6,050 per year (PG Cert, 2026/27);
International students
Full time: £42,800 per year (MSc, 2026/27); £28,550 per year (PG Dip, 2026/27); £14,300 per year (PG Cert, 2026/27);
